The purpose of this milling study was to characterize the effect of various milling parameters on the physical properties of a lactose wet granulation formulation and extruded lentils. Lactose particle properties were to be studied based on modification of equipment parameters on the L1A Fitz mill by assessing particle size distribution.

The results indicate that the optimal combination of milling strategy and process parameters for low cavity defect and high material removal rate is up milling, low cutting speed, and high feed per tooth. The findings in this work could guide the highperforming milling of carbon fiber reinforced polymer parts with higher machining efficiency.
