Drives in steel and rolling mills are exposed to extremely hard demands. Glowing steel, alternating operational modes and overloads spell out a high level of electrical and mechanical strain that calls for very sturdy designs. As a traditional supplier to heavy industry, VEM has developed over decades into a specialist for rolling mill drives.
Highly productive rolling can be carried out by setting up as many rolling mills (2Hi mills or universal rolling mills) in a straight line as there are rolling passes for nonreversible rolling. It is a method that is often applied for rolling small to mediumsized shaped predominant style is the standexchanging method through which the roll is exchanged in its stand.
27/11/2015#0183;#32;Rolling is able to produce a product which is having constant cross section throughout its length. Many shapes and sections are possible to roll by the steel rolling process. Steel sections are generally rolled in several passes, whose number is determined by the ratio of initial input material and final cross section of finished product.
Rolling production. Hightechnology rolling production at BSW is represented by smallsection rolling mill 320, wire rod mill 150 and reversing heavysection rolling mill 850. Wire rod mill 150 consists of six roughing stands and twelve intermediate stands, 8stand wire rod mill and 4stand reducingsizing mill, modern mechanized line for bars in coils.
Rolling is most often, (particularly in the case of the conversion of an ingot or continuous casting), performed hot. At a rolling mill, blooms and slabs are further rolled down to intermediate parts such as plate, sheet, strip, coil, billets, bars and rods. Many of these products will be the starting material for subsequent manufacturing operations such as forging, sheet metal working, wire drawing, extrusion,
2 Apr 2018. Rolling is the process of plastically deforming steel by passing it between rolls. Rolling is defined as the reduction of the cross sectional area of the steel piece being rolled, or the general shaping of the steel products, through the use of the rotating rolls. In rolling mills, intermediate steel products are given their final shape and dimension in a series of shaping and finishing operations.
21/11/2015#0183;#32;Thin slab casting and rolling mill This is used for the production of hot strips. Liquid steel is cast in thin slabs (thickness 50 mm to 80 mm) which are rolled in finishing mill of hot strip mill after temperature equalization in a furnace. Thread rolling mill In this mill dies are pressed against the surface of cylindrical blank.
Roll stands holding pairs of rolls are grouped together into rolling mills that can quickly process metal, typically steel, into products such as structural steel (Ibeams, angle stock, channel stock), bar stock, and rails. Most steel mills have rolling mill divisions that convert the semifinished casting products into finished products.
